In its quest to continue to develop a privacy-conscious ecosystem, Africa’s leading data and marketing technology company, Terragon, has pledged its commitment to the Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) as it strives to promote data protection in Nigeria.
Elo Umeh, Terragon’s CEO, articulated this stance following a recent visit to the newly established NDPC at its headquarters in Abuja. Whilst pledging its continued support to the commission, Umeh empahsised Terragon’s leadership in data governance in Africa.
“At Terragon, data protection is at the core of our mission. Our superior data governance culture ensures strict adherence to global data protection regulations such as the GDPR, CCPA, and territorial regulations such as Nigeria’s Data Protection Act. Furthermore, our consistent 5-year ISO-27001 certification (a global certification for Information Security Management Systems) underscores our unwavering dedication to safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining the highest standards of security.”
As we collaborate with African businesses to intelligently engage with their customers, we remain steadfast in cultivating an ecosystem centered around data privacy. This is why we visited the leadership of the NDPC, to reaffirm our dedication to a privacy-conscious Nigeria. In the past, we collaborated with NITDA, championing and promoting the erstwhile NDPR. We are ready to offer even more support to the NDPC; to promote compliance with the recently enacted Data Protection Act and other activities of the Commission.
Terragon was received by the National Commissioner of the NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatunji who commended the MarTech firm for their wide presence across key markets in Africa. He emphasised the importance of integrating privacy by design and by default in solution deployment, along with consistent legal compliance. The NDPC boss also expressed the commission’s commitment towards initiatives that will advance Nigeria’s digital economy and
enhance the nation’s global competitiveness. The Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) is the regulatory body responsible for ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations in Nigeria.
Terragon’s CEO, Elo Umeh, led the delegation, accompanied by the company’s General Counsel, Oyeniyi Immanuel. The NDPC management team was also present during the visit.
Through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Terragon leverages data and technology to help brands intelligently engage and deliver meaningful experiences to African consumers on mobile.
