Ido Sum is a Partner at TLcom Capital, based out of Lagos, Nairobi and London (www.tlcomcapital.com) and part of the founding team of TLcom TIDE Africa – Africa’s first dedicated Tech VC fund. Ido has extensive operational and venture capital experience across Europe, Israel and Africa, with board seats in several tech companies operating across these geographies.
Prior to TLcom, Ido was the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Airlines WiMAX Communication, an East Africa based mobile broadband operator. Prior to founding AWC, Ido led a consulting business focused on web start-ups and web-incubators in Israel. He also worked as Business Development Manager at TMT – Israel’s largest interactive television company. During his studies, Ido interned at Qualcomm, focusing on its emerging markets strategy looking at Africa and the Middle East. He is a Lieutenant (res.) in the IDF intelligence corps.
Ido has been involved in social entrepreneurship for over 15 years, founding 3 NGOs, the largest of which is NOVA, Israel’s largest management consulting service in the social space, which he Co-Chairs. Ido cooperates with the Stanford SEED initiative in West and East Africa as well as several other incubators and accelerators across the continent. Ido holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Tel Aviv University.
